She needs to hear she's beautiful...

I'm going to update on my life, because I haven't in a while. And because I need something to do to justify not doing anything school related.

I've gotten all sorts of "emo" again. I got into my emo phase around Thanksgiving, but slipped out with all the crazy happenings around winter break. But alas, I suddenly find myself listening to too much "Konstantine" and getting myself all bummed out about life. Stupid music. Why do all the best songs have to be the saddest?

On Saturday Michelle and I hit up the city. We had intentions of doing a lot, but we didn't get into the city as early as we had hoped so we didn't get to do any shopping. We did, however, see the Museum of Modern Art and drink several margaritas and rum & cokes, so it was well worth it. =)

I was very surprised at the Museum of Modern Art to see a few Monet paintings. Monet is definitely one of my favorite artists but his stuff doesn't exactly scream "modern art." But they had a few things and it absolutely thrilled me. I could stare at a Monet all day. I could see one of his paintings from another gallery and instantly knew it was a Monet without even looking at the information next to it ... My mom was proud of me for that. "Don't you just love how you just know it's a Monet as soon as you see it?" she asked. Me, becoming the art dork that I am ... yes.

So I got some Jack's Mannequin tickets and I am thrilled to pieces. One, because I haven't seen Jack's Mannequin live ever. Two, because it's been over two years since I've been in the same room as Andrew McMahon and that's just unacceptable. Because of the upcoming concert, I'm totally on a Jack/SoCo kick. Perhaps that's why I'm being so "emo."

I hope he plays "Konstantine." Even though it's a SoCo song, I heard he does sometimes. Wee.

I haven't listened to this much Something Corporate in over a year. Feels kind of nice.

Standing on the edge of morning
Scent of sex and New Found Glory playing as she's pulling back her hair
She drives away, she's feeling worthless
Used again, but nothing's different
She'd stay the night but knows he doesn't care

The Jack concert should be interesting, though, because of who's going. I'm going with my friend/editor-in-chief Andrew (God, I know too many people with that name). However, Andrew's ex is going with Jeff. Yes, remember Jeff? The loser ex-boyfriend who made me cry at a DMB show? Yeah...Well Andrew is friends with him so somehow all four of us going means we all need to go together. I got a facebook message from Jeff declaring "Jack's Mannequin. Four hardcore fans....one car." So not cool. That situation just screams awkwardness. Two sets of exes is not the ideal concert setting.

Anyway, I talked to Andrew and we laughed and both agreed that it's not happening. ::sigh of relief::

Though I do hope we see them there. Because as awkward as it could be, it will also be amusing as all hell. I just don't know if I could handle a car ride with him. And I, of all people, would know.

Internship is going well. Slowly, I'm getting to know all the other interns. Everyone seems really cool and fun. And the best part of interning in the music industry is ... well, we all talk about music all the time. I like having other people to share a passion with. But it's fun ... We ALL went out and got lunch TOGETHER today for the first time, and it was a lot of fun.

As for the actual job part, it's going well. I still haven't gotten started yet on promoting any bands, but I'm slowly getting there. There's always a lot going on, so it's not that I haven't done anything yet ... I'm still learning, though. But I like it. And I like getting free music. =)

I really hope that I eventually end up with a career in the music business. Now that I'm somewhat in it, I don't ever want to leave. Why didn't I think of this earlier, rather than wasting four years doing journalism?

I think I've pretty much covered everything. Actually I haven't, but all of the rest is top secret stuff. Good stuff, but top secret.

And I think we can all safely say that I had too much fun using italics and bold in this entry. Ahh well.
