First a disclaimer - I'm ADHD, so I'm never going to be able to just sit still and watch a movie. I always need to be doing something else at the same time, especially if it's going to need my attention for longer than 10 mins or so.
Your question, as you define it, doesn't really apply to me... You seem to be asking people why they would choose not to watch things online, I assume rather than watch it some other way, or not al all? I watch most of my media online, so there is technically nothing stopping me from watching a film/your film through this medium. Whether I watch a thing<\b> is a different matter...
I have 3 'modes' of being online. First is at work, where I will be searching the internet on a PC for information that I need to do my job. There is a very low chance that I will stumble across a mention of a movie, because of the speed and focus that I'm ploughing through pages, but even if it does happen, there is zero chance at I will stop and watch the film. If it looks very cool, and the interface has made it quick and easy for me to send a note about it to myself, then I might get around to it later. 2nd is on my iPad, stuffing about while having coffee, lunch break, commuting, etc. I'm not likely to watch a long film, but depending on e time available, a short 5ish minute thing yeh. Most longer things that look interesting I will paste a link into a notes page I have, or put it on my watch later list on YouTube. The biggest thing that stops me here is if the film won't play on my iPad. I find a lot of content on YouTube is blocked from playing on mobile devices. That blocks my iPad. At that point it is highly unlikely I will drag my arse over to my computer to queue it up. Platform is also a factor. I watch most of my online video content through YouTube. Almost everything else is traditional media via my sky ap, (which is the programmes that I've recorded on my skybox, not live TV) these are places I go when I'm in the mood to watch something, so it is less likely that I will remember (be bothered) to go find your thing if it exists outside that sphere. 3rd is stuff playing while I paint. I will go through my list of links, then my watch later list on YouTube, then go for the Tv shows on sky/DVD box sets. The thing that will stop me here is if I have to invest too much lookee in a thing. I need to be looking at what I'm doing, so I tend to go for films/TV with good solid scripts, or with captioning for the visually impaired. If the film has sub-titles, or needs me to watch what is happening to follow the story, I'm going to have to put down what I'm doing and change it. So if a film looks like it won't be in English, or looks like it will be relying too much on visual effects to tell a story, it's going to get skipped over.
Happy to clarify/expand on any of this if you want... -Sim
