Happy Canada Day!!

This is one of those times I really miss living in Toronto. As a kid I remember that we had an international fireworks festival with a display every night from the first to the fourth. (Canada Day till the American holiday Independence Day) We'd all grab a radio (they were always choreographed to music), some blankets, a sweater if needed, and drive on down to the edge of Lake Ontario.

If you could find the right spot than you could watch them with the profile of the CN Tower and later (once it was built, that's how long ago I live there), the Skydome in the foreground with the fireworks reflecting off the water as they lit up the sky.

My family never dared to brave the massive crowds at the actual celebration locations, but it was all good. I wonder if they even still do four days of fireworks there… I just checked and it looks like they still do something similar at Ontario Place, 3 different days of fireworks, and I think that's the same place we watched them come from before, too.

La sigh, oh those blissful childhood memories! :D Sadly, here in the desert our fireworks aren’t very...spectacular. But they’re all right. The one great thing is that with the valley as flat as it is if you can find a way onto someone's roof you can generally see most of them. We have two twenty minute displays, one over downtown Phoenix and one over Tempe Town Lakes. I'm at a bar-b-que this year, but one year I think I'd like to brave the bad parking for a closer look.
