Hello September!

Sep 01, 2011 21:55

In some ways, I am glad these summer months are over. It means an end to this three digit heat. And end to the dry season of few new people coming to post. An end to the people I did not like who were leaving post (which means, in the coming months, people I like will be leaving! )

And these last few days of August, I have been sick. So goodbye to that.

Hello to . . . finishing the edits on the job letter and updating the C.V., which I sent off to the department head in University of Amsterdam! Bonus: he is also the director of their cultural studies institute, so I played up all the fun cultural, disability, monstrous stuff I have been doing as of late.

Hello to . . . funding to bring Gabriella to Cd. J. and Chihuahua City to do some performance workshops! Now, it should all work out!

Hello to . . ."The Biggest Loser, Cd. J. edition!" One of the newish officers (who is not lame, and who volunteers for stuff) came up with the idea to do a biggest loser here. I worked with her on the concept, and we are launching it for next week. It will run until December. We have teams that gain points from weight lost (anonymous weigh ins, but teams with most lost each week get points) and points for events organized and attended.

Hello to . . . 16 de Septiembre! Mexican Independence Day -- which I am helping organize a party with the local staff. I learn more Spanish in these meetings than I do in class.

Hello to . . . Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta trip which I hope we can organize for the end of the month.

Hello to three day weekend!

Hello to Seven New officers and families arriving to post in September!
