So there was supposed to be a bonfire tonight, but Mike Ditka told Mike that he calls the cops on kids, and thusly no bonfire. That really pisses me off though, the place we were at was at least 100 yards away from his house and there would've been maybe 5 of us maximum. This was the coolest place too. Near the entrance there was an incredibly poorly constructed tree fort...which I of course climbed until Mike came...and there were overturned cars every where, abandoned houses and train cars...one of the houses even still had the kitchen sink and everything in it. It was amazing...and fucking Mike Ditka had to ruin it. So I ended up hanging out with Jess and we went to the mall...hadn't been there in forever...remembered why. Christine called from work incredibly stressed out, so we had dinner on the go...wow...that was cheesy. Found out that Stephanie got sick and had to leave (Get Better)and Jinelle only got someone to cover from 5-8...good job subway. So I helped out a wee bit and then Jess and I went to Steph's and played Scrabble while waiting for Jake to call. Went to Jake's, there wasn't much to drink...some good banana rum stuff...but very little of it. Went out and got some gummi worms...some kid running from the cops tried to get me to give him a ride to Joliet...something about dcfs...cars...lisence...wasn't really listening. It was creepy. Then we went back to Jake's and I had to leave at 1...and now I'm here...eating gummi worms.
If everyone comes to essentially the same fate, does individuality really matter? I mean, I understand that being an individual among the masses can greatly affect one's quality of life, but couldn't you say the same for conformity? Saftey in numbers, kids. It seems to me that the benefits of individuality/noncomformity are some thing that is subjective to each person and, if we are all doomed to the same fate (death), one should simply go along with what best suits them. People are trying to rebel against comformity, but if we were all 'individuals', so to speak, there would be utter chaos. There would be no majority rules, no government or anything really. Which is why it is beneficial for the individual's (usually those who take power, "movers and shakers") mortality. What if Napolean had been immortal? Or Newton? Or Alexander The Great? Where the fuck would that put us? Sure with Newton there would be incredibly scientific progress, but would Newton's life had been as it was if Alexander the Great had been immortal? And even so, were such scientific discoveries really progression as opposed to regression? The things that were proven put humans back to square one. People were content with God being the answer to just about everything, and then the scientific revolution broke down everything the people knew and replaced it with uncertainty. People are always content in their ignorance, "what they don't know wont' hurt them" type of thing. I'm really tired and this is probably really incoherent. Good night kids.
