A Bit of Personal Stuff
Sometimes, I really hate Facebook.
They say that it has “pulled us together” and “advanced communication”
But really, it just pulls us apart.
For example-
I have this friend who I use to be pretty close with, but lately we never talk on the phone anymore, and I hate texting.
So we only communicate through Facebook.
Now sure, you could argue that we “talk” more now that everything is virtual (seeing as I practically live on the Internet anyway), but the thing is, there is a very important difference between talking and writing.
Tone.
When you are talking to someone, you can tell whether their serious of joking by the tone of their voice. When typing, however, I haven’t a clue.
So I keep finding myself in these situations where I look at what she has written me, and i am lost at what she was trying to express.
Are you pissed at me?
Are you joking around?
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?
And when I ask for an explanation, she then misinterprets what I say
and it starts all over again.
We barely talk anymore, and we have grown apart.
We were close friends for 7 years.
Conclusion: I blame Facebook
