Something about having all my exams etc over for the year has awakened the slumbering creative beast within me. Much as Hedley LaMarr (Hedley! Hedley!) opines in Blazing Saddles, my mind is ablaze with a million thoughts, racing around and trying to get onto a page or the screen.
This summer bodes well. I have an irrational urge to produce something similar to what
these fellows have acheived - a highly successful independent serial video series distributed via the internet (video podcasts, for the übergeeks) - whether it has continuity or not, I'd just like to do it, to see if I'm actually capable of seeing something like that through.
Inspiration Studios still is around, nearly 12 months later, and we've acheived many of our 12 month goals. Coming up we are doing sound design and visual effects and possibly colour grading for at least two shorts, with our names on the list for a third and possibly fourth. We also have some other exciting things I'm not allowed to talk about just yet ;)
Also, we're looking at purchasing, to butcher a quote,
a camera with enough resolution to blow a woman's clothes off. Things are exciting indeed.
There's something about being able to carry a couple thousand songs in your pocket that re-awakens your appreciation for music. Before, I would drag the CD Walkman on the train every so often, but now... I'm listening to music I haven't in months if not years. Ah, Tom Waits. Ah, Jacknife Lee. The list goes on.
I'd tell everyone to go see
Stay, but if it evaporated from cinemas there as fast as it did here, best wait for the DVD. It's a hell of a film, both visually and story-ally.
Okay, that's enough non-brevity. Time for bed.
