caerwyn (who never updates his LJ, but tells me he *thinks* about, so he's really making the thought count), introduced me to Pandora. Which I've probably heard of at some point, but he's the one that jumped me and told me he was interested in hearing what I came up with.
After tinkering with it for a few days, I've discovered I'm mostly a blues/folk/indie rock kind of girl, with a few more popular artists and other variety thrown in. He's going to be sadly disappointed, because there is an absence of Irish Folk singers-- the true showing of why he and I can never be together. I'm not an international girl with a great voice singing about how my love was sent over the ocean and eaten by a giant squid. We are forever starcrossed.
Anyway, it inspired me to listen to some of my old CDs. I pulled some Rilo Kiley out of the mix and I've fallen back in love with it-- which doesn't take much. While the woman of his dreams is battling it out in a monster movie while sounding sweet and serene, my is redheaded and kicking ass with a piano.
And sometimes when you're on you're really fucking on
And your friends they sing along and they love you
But the lows are so extreme that the good seems fucking cheap
And it teases you for weeks in its absense
But you'll fight and you'll make it through
You'll fake it if you have to
And you'll show up for work with a smile
And you'll be be better you'll be smarter
More grown up and a better daughter
Or son and a real good friend
And you'll be awake and you'll be alert
You'll be positive though it hurts
And you'll laugh and embrace all your friends
And you'll be a real good listener
You'll be honest you'll be brave
You'll be handsome you'll be beautiful
You'll be happy
Your ship may be coming in
You're weak but not giving in
To the cries and the wails of the valley below
Your ship may be coming in
You're weak but not giving in
And you'll fight it you'll go out fighting all of them...
