Time doesn't heal all wounds.

Time scabs them over, so that you can't feel them anymore.

But when that scab is ripped off (and yes, something will rip it off inevitably) it hurts like the pain is fresh.

Only God can heal wounds so that the flesh of your soul is smooth and un-scarred.
