The weather has decided that since school has started, it must be fall. I think this is the earliest fall we have ever had! Although it might be going back to summer in the middle of the week, we'll see. As a result, everyone is sick, it's awesome!
All 3 girls have started back to school. Aly and Britt are both in high school now. Larkyn is in Pre-K. Parker won't start until Sept 3, and he only goes 4 days a week. He is still sad that "I won't allow him to go to school", but he finally believes his school is not ready and his teacher is working on getting it ready for him. Next weekend we go to the school for orientation (parents only) then during the week he gets to go meet his teacher. Larkyn has had a rough start to the school year. She's been very clingy and a few times looked like she was about to have a panic attack. I did finally remember that she did this last year, although she never actually cried. She just got clingy and didn't want me to go, but was fine after I left. This year she doesn't want me to go and has almost started crying a few times while I am there, and has looked scared and STRESSED, which is a really odd look to see on a 4year old's face! She has cried everyday except for 2. She almost cried the one day and her teacher was able to talk her out of it, and on Friday I think she did fine and didn't even start to cry! Friday she won both of the games her class played, and it was her turn to be the teacher's helper and one of the class leaders, and her teacher said she could tell how much of a difference being a leader made with her. they take turns, but hopefully Larkyn can sneak in some extra turns, lol.
She's made some friends, but one is the stupid boy who told her that she couldn't wear her fire shoes because they were BOY shoes, and she is a GIRL and needs to go get glittery GIRL shoes. You're supposed to be nice to everyone, but Hubby said she should use her karate self defense moves and hit him ni the nose and box his ears, I said no please don't! I did tell her that the boy was stupid and not very nice or smart. I'm sure it's not the proper response and she might tell him "My mommy says you are dumb", but I don't care, let him parents come and try and ask me why! We have FINALLY gotten her to believe that girls CAN wear fire shoes, and that boy is just WRONG. She was very stressed out that morning that I might make her wear her shoes and he would make fun of her, so I don't like the little twit at all. Her teacher has a website and has posted pictures, and she is always playing with girls in the pictures, so hopefully this means she has some girl friends as well.
Aly has already forgotten to turn in 2 assignments. She claims she turned them both in on Friday, but it will prob be Tues before the grading website is updated so I can't check. Brittany is taking dance and she LOVES it. I thought she would do it this one year, but she is already torn about what to do next year. She gains another academic class next year and has to drop an elective, and she doesn't know what she will do. She can't drop foreign language because she needs 2 years of it, she wanted to keep orchestra for all 4 years but now she isn't sure if she should drop orchestra or dance, she wants to take them both! She practices every single day and if I ask "How was school" she immediately starts telling me all about dance class. Aly is in body sculpting. You only take one year of Gym class, so she hasn't had any fitness classes since (not including karate which is outside of school). Britt was originally trying to get in to body sculpting (combo of weight lifting and other workouts) but they don't usually allow 9th graders. Aly signed up so they could take it together, then Britt didn't get in and Aly did. She says she likes it so far. I think it would be good for her, and I hope she likes it. Normally she doesn't want to do anything physically active and hates working out. She does the bare minimum in karate, so hopefully between the two she will find some sort of physical activity she likes. We've finally reached the stage where I probably can't help with homework anymore. Aly has physics and I never took it, so it will depend on what the questions are like and how good the examples are in the book, or else she will be on her own! We already almost called Stephen the other day for one of Britt's math problems, it was worded REALLY weird but she finally figured it out. It was even more odd because they didn't want the answer to the problem, they wanted you to tell them why the girl in the problem got the wrong answer, but not by working out the problem and showing how it should have been. School is just weird!
My cousin finally moved out of my grandparents house. It went on the market and had an offer on it in one week. They made a counter offer and the guy refused and walked away instead of countering again. It was really stupid and I wanted to tell them to just sign his offer, but it's their deal, not mine. They didn't change anything in their counter that actually mattered, the price was the same but the guy was paying cash and they asked for him to show proof that he has the cash ready and the guy wanted to use his own lawyer and they said they want to use their lawyer instead. The realtor basically wanted to counter just to counter, and said it's good to make sure he HAS cash before taking it off the market(although it wasn't being taken fof the market until the deal closed anyway) and he doesn't like using people's attorneys because they aren't real estate lawyers and sometimes it turns out bad. In theory i get it, but I also know the mindset of people who have the money to slap down that much cash for a house, and if you aren't changing anything major, don't push them just to push them :p So now it's back to square one and hopefully the house will still sell fast, but it sucks thinking it was done and then finding out it is not.
Larkyn's school has someone who comes in and teachers dance one day a week. They told the kids (but not the parents lol) and Larkyn wants to learn ballet. It is one day a week, but it is an hour AFTER school gets out. So I take her home, then bring her back, then take her home again. Her karate instructor wants to move her up to the next level at karate, so she would be in a different class than Parker. none of their classes (except Sat) would be back to back (and we usually skip Sat), so I would be going to karate 3 or 4 days a week with the little ones, during work hours, and taking her to ballet one day a week, during work hours. I don't know if I can skip that much work. hubby wouldn't be able to help me because since he was transferred to the other department he is even MORE 8-5 than he was before. He was always admin, but before he had to work late at least once a month and if I needed him he could shift things around to go in late/get of early. Now he is strictly admin, except on training days, so there is a lot less leeway for him to get off early. And he has to work court every other Weds now, and ballet is on Weds. I think she'd love dance but I don't know if we can fit it in with everything else, and I don't know if her going to the bgger karate class is going to drive me bonkers. I have to decide if I am letting them switch her now or next session, because she tests for her new belt this week and starts the new class the next. Larkyn and Parker are free at karate because we have a family plan, and dance would be another $50 a month. Which isn't bad, but still. It's one more fee on top of everything else now that school is back in session. We'll figure it out, I'm just ready to KNOW one way or the other.
