My brother broke his arm!

My brother fell out of a tree and broke his arm! And no he is not 10, lol. He was adjusting his tree stand (chair you put up in a tree and you sit in it to hunt), and he was testing the view without putting the safety thing on, the chair broke and fell and he fell with it. He broke his arm but that was the only major thing. It's about a 30min walk back to his truck, where apparently he had left his cell phone. He called someone to come get him, he drives a stick shift and didn't want to attempt it with one arm! It took them an hour to get to him, then it was another 30mins to the hospital so he was pretty miserable by the time they arrived. It's not a clean break so he has a temporary cast for now and has to go to the orthopedic surgeon tomorrow so they can look at it and schedule surgery. His arm looks kinda funky, but now that he's high on pain pills he thinks it is more amusing than he did earlier today! Hopefully it all heals cleanly once they do surgery. He is worried about work because he uses his left arm when he drives the forklift, but they can't fire him for having a broken arm, they will just put him on light duty and he probably won't be allowed to get over time for awhile since he can't do as much. He was very lucky he wasn't hurt worse, though, especially since the chair landed on top of him when they fell!

Hubby's grandfather Pop was doing better last night. The new wife said he is dying any moment, the aunt said it wasn't that bad. We went to see him and he was asleep and sounded and looked horrible. Hubby thought he WAS going to die at any moment. He was breathing through his mouth and he ALWAYS sounds horrible when he does that. He also did that thing where he'd randomly try and say something, but look asleep, and you don't know if he's awake or not. He eventually woke up while the nurse was pouring gross tasting medicine in his mouth. He asked about the girls and said the medicine was terrible, and hubby kept saying "Just take a little bit more" and Pop finally said something about it being a LOT more, because it never stopped. He has to take liquids slow because he has trouble breathing them instead of swallowing them, so it took forever. He looked and sounded better once he woke up, but then visiting hours were over and we had to leave! I felt bad waking him up and giving him horrible medicine then abandoning him, lol. His chart said he has to eat 80% of his meals with assistance and return to 'normal activities' before he can go home. They don't want him going home, they want him going to rehab or a nursing home, but his wife won't do that. Hopefully he keeps getting better, but we'll see. If she takes him back home he will just be back in the hospital in another couple of weeks from dehydration, and the whole process will start all over again!
