I went down to Cape Breton on the weekend. It was lovely: sunshine, everything, walking on the trails at West Mabou beach, having a Sound Collage Derby with my sisters, playing surrealist games and drawing games, writing "hip-hops", playing auction with my 89-year-old grandma, going to church in Mabou... I wanted it to go on and on.

Nursing Home-ys

Hip hop hippety hop, don't stop til your hip pops

Nursing home - 73, all the little ladies lookin at me
Spinners on the left side, ladies on the right,
Wheeling down the hallway to bingo tonight

Hip hop hippety hop, don't stop til your teeth drop

Heading for the rec room, my BP goes boom
she's a little cutie of 72
Her eyes are yellow an her hair is blue

Jesus, Jesus, where's my teeth?

I wheel out to make my play,
She can't hear a word I say!
She just nods and smiles a lot
It really doesn't matter 'cause her tea is hot.
It's hot!

Hip hop hippety hop, hip hop til your heart stops

I respect the elderly, really.

songs, poems, cape breton, writing
