O hai, I live.
And I blag on YouTube (here's part 2, because I accidentally made it too long). Told you it was coming - work and other issues have kind of been devouring me since I got to Japan, 'cause, you know, setting up a (temporary) new life and all, and also my job is kind of tough, but that's a story for the near future - but here it is. After, um, a month. BUT, things have finally settled down a bit here, I'm getting used to my job, and I won't feel the need to spend hours upon hours tediously composing opening slideshows for the rest of the posts, so you should be seeing more posts very, very shortly.
Don't get too excited about the pictures at the beginning - they come from the internet, not from my camera, as I explain in the video. Also, at the beginning, when I am nervous and stupid-sounding and talk about the purpose of my blog and teaching children, I mean that I'm chronicling my teaching of the children, not that I am attempting to teach children through my blog (because that would be weird). I'm too lazy to go back and do a second take.
So yeah, Japan is sweet, except my job, which is...bearable. Well, junior high is just bearable; elementary school is great. This will be detailed in future bloggages. Huzzah, life!

7. There’s this boy I know who makes my life very difficult once a week (a troublemaker student).
8. Once, at a bar, I tried to become inebriated from a pitcher of fuzzy navel and it didn't work.
9. By noon, I am probably eating something that I can't identify.
10. Last night I ran into some students on my way home from the Jumbo Encho, and they got really excited and asked me in English about what I bought.
11. If only I had a love life.
12. Next time I go to church it will either be a Japanese church, which will be really weird, or it will be with my parents many months from now.
13. What worries me most is the future, and how maybe I'll fuck everything up.
14. When I turn my head left I see my curtains, which are closed.
15. When I turn my head right I see a mirror and a closet, everything very plain. Also my neck is a little sore.
16. You know I’m lying...or do you?
17. What I miss most about the Eighties is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
18. If I were a character in Shakespeare I’d be Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing, because I am awesome like that.
19. By this time next year I will have started HOLY SHIT law school.
20. A better name for me would be Her Highness Empress Carrie of the Planet Earth.
21. I have a hard time understanding women who are attracted to much older men.
22. If I ever go back to school it will be law school.
23. You know I like you if I allow you to share a straw/soda can/cup/etc. with me. In fact, this probably means I like you a great deal.
24. If I ever won an award, the first person I would thank would be, well, that would depend on the award.
25. Take my advice, DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR MOUTH.
26. My ideal breakfast is reheated (or cold, depending on where it's from) pizza at 1:00 pm, having woken around 10:00. Pancakes are ok, too, maybe with some strawberries. Oh, or a really good waffle, but only if it's a really good one - a big fluffy one from Simmons (MISS!), or some of those eggo cinnamon-toast waffles.
27. A song I love but do not have is the Katamari song.
28. If you visit my hometown you should visit the Pickwick, a historic movie theater. There are some cute shops and cafes and things around there, too.
29. Why won’t people think before they act?
30. If you spend a night at my house, you will be sleeping on an under-futon and I will be sleeping on an over-futon, so probably neither of us will be too comfortable. But you should visit me anyway.
31. I’d stop my wedding for a natural disaster.
32. The world could do without wasps and hornets. They don't even make honey, the bastards! Ecosystem, schmecosystem.
33. I’d rather lick the belly of a cockroach than lick the belly of a different, more pointy or poisonous insect.
