Aaaand somehow I managed to go three and a half weeks without posting. Good gods.
I'm not ignoring my journal, I swear. Well, not voluntarily. I've been busy. This semester promises to be another crazy one, despite my hopes to the contrary.
To start with, the bossman and I submitted a paper for review and eventual publication at the beginning of the month. It came back to us yesterday with the reviewers' suggestions for what we still need to do. So I've been discussing with the bossman what exactly I need to do in that regard. And I have a laundry-list of stuff already.
To add to that, I've been working on drafting a second paper. That one is currently at about 35-40% completion. I need to rework the figures and get a little more data to fill in some of the gaps I've found in the process of starting to write it up. Current goal is to try to get it roughly finished in the next two weeks. Whether I manage that... well. No idea.
Then, I'm also TAing again this semester. For the fourth semester in a row. (When I was told I'd only have to TA for one or maybe two. *sigh*) And that's been taking up a good portion of my time. I'm only getting paid for about 10 hours/week for the TA stuff, but I wind up putting in more like 15-20. :/ Between writing the homeworks, grading the homeworks, attending class, and holding office hours... yeah. But at least the students come talk to me, so I feel like I'm a little less useless than the last couple times I TA'd the course.
There was an additional wrinkle, too, when I was told I'd be TAing. I'd never before met the professor I would be working for/with, at that point. Which made me a little leery. But I like him a lot. He's quirky as hell, and we agree on a lot of stuff, which is nice. What's a little less nice is that I'm more or less stuck making things up as I go, since his teaching style is COMPLETELY different to the professors I've worked with/for before.
A bit of a mixed bag, really. But eh. Could be worse.
And I'm also taking a class. Just a seminar, and all they do is enforce attendance, but still.
Oh, and there's a conference coming up on campus right at the end of Spring Break that I'll have to prepare for at some point soon. And another that's coming up in April to think about...
So, yeah.
Lots. Of. Stuff. OMG.
I already feel like I'm falling behind, and we're only 2 weeks into the semester. Argh.
