From the “Let’s Go Out Tonight” Department: According to USA Today, struggling full-service restaurants are lowering their prices. I noticed this last week in COS where I saw a significant drop in the price of dinner at Outback. However, they still did push those artery-clogging onions.
From the “Let’s Eat At Home” Department: At one point in the downturn, economists thought that people would eschew restaurants and go for upscale markets to do it at home. Well, that theory hasn’t panned out: people are eating out less, yes, but they also shopping as less expensive markets. I wonder when we’ll see Whole Paycheck react to this trend, given that the recession is probably hitting their target audience hard.
