John brings you the Best of PyGame!!!
What is PyGame?
PyGame is a set of modules written for game development in the
Python open source programming language. What that means for you is smart people write cool games and want to share them for free (as in beer).
John's Picks:
Everyone loves Tetris:
For this there are 2 good versions
Fractal Tetris and
PyTris. Fractal Tetris is your basic
Tetris clone with pretty
mandelbrot fractals for backgrounds. PyTris is a standard clone as well with difficulty levels and bonus points for combos.
Revive that Bejeweled Addiction:
Jools is a free implementation of
Bejeweled.
Everyone loves Minesweeper:
Sure it comes with M$ Winblows, but not everyone runs Winblows. Plus, wouldn't you rather support good people like open source developers? Check out
PySweeper.
Test the vocab:
Wordslider is like those jigsaw puzzle word games. You have to make words out of the jumbled tiles each turn. Soooo fun!
Connect 4?!?!?!
4st Attack looks a lot like the old school connect 4. You know you loved that game!
Prepare for battle!
PyTego is an implementation for the old school Stratego game. Man I used to love that game.
Cards anyone?
Of course you need a card game. How about
blackjack?
For the little ones:
All kids like to play
Memory. And it is good for them. Hell maybe I should be playing this one.
Admit it, you dance:
For those obsessed with DDR, there is
PyDance. This also allows geeks to create their own levels. Sweet!
I like numbers not words:
TuxMathScrabble is like scrabble only with equations, WOOT!!! Now this I can kick ass at. I'm a dork.
For the Homos:
My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant is the first gay themed adventure game. It is slated for commercial release as well. Pretty freakin sweet. I've made some questionable calls in dating, but never have I dated a space tyrant ;-)
Honorable Mention - My Current Addiction:
Ryan got me hooked on Sudoku recently. Unfortunately
PySudoku sucks balls. The UI is great, but you can end up with unsolvable puzzles. The good news is yours truly has taken interest in this project and already solved why this happens. Look for an updated (working) version soon.
Thought I'd share :-D
