What an interesting few days since last I updated. Allow me to recap-a-licious
Thursday:
Found out in the morning that I needed to be in Kentucky Monday morning. I love the notice we get on these things. So I continued to make progress on things and waste a little bit of time since I was quite tired from all the working late all week. I honestly don't much remember Thursday as I was so exhausted.
Friday:
"Worked Remotely" in the morning. Mostly just answered a few emails and refreshed the code on the server for Bonez. I really didn't want to do anything. Then I got dressed and drove down to Hanover to drop my car off. Got a chance to chat with Sammy a little bit which was nice. It's so odd going so long without talking to her. I feel out of touch. That should be better soon when we settle into our new grad student lives. AHHHH!!! Still gets me :-D Then Peg and I had lunch since she was nice enough to not only come get me in Hanover but also lend me the Buick for the night. LOVE her. The Buick is a very different ride from the van. I don't like being lower and I don't like the smaller mirrors, but I LOVE the suspension and stirring. It's like driving a cloud hovering above the ground and you can literally stir with a pinky finger. It's HOT!
Then Jess and I met up with Bridget and her friend Bob who was visiting. We went to Harry's (a cool bar) which had the Sox game on one big screen and the Pat's game on another. WOOT!!! It was a cool and laid back night.
Saturday:
Got up and hung out in the morning. Not doing anything in particular. They called and said my car would be ready after noon. So I got ready and picked up Peg. Got to chat with Dad a little too. Then drove down to get my baby. She's very happy now. Got the full scheduled maintenance because I am obsessive. Ran my errands and then went home for some chill time. Spent a quiet night avoiding the nastiness of the hot weather and watching football. No Huddle on the NFL Network is genius. Since Pre-Season games can get a bit boring (scrubs play sloppy) they have a whip around deal going. They keep the scores of the 6 to 8 games on the side and bounce between them as they get exciting. It rocks. For Pre-Season. I'd be pissy during the regular season. Esp. since they didn't show much of the Chiefs game (they got spanked). It was a good night.
Sunday:
I went to lunch at the Coolidge Clubhouse with Bridget and Bob. I love this place. All the food is named after sports people. I had a Bill Belichick. I love him and the sandwich. It poured while we were in there but it lightened up enough for us to make a get away.
Then later that day I went on a coffee date. I had emailed and IMed with this guy Ryan on Match.com and we were supposed to meet up last Sunday but his sister-in-law went into labor and the whole family went to Maine to be there. This is the first baby so that's understandable. Then I heard nothing all week so I figured that had faded. But I got a text on Friday about maybe doing something this Sunday. So we chatted a bit in the afternoon and decided to meet at the B&N at the Burlington Mall. Sort of a central location to the two of us. We got Iced Mochas and wandered around a bit. He seems really cool and is very cute. I'm a big fan.
We talked about all kinds of stuff and seem to have a lot in common. We wound up in the horoscope book section for a while and were reading about each other's signs. It was pretty geeky. He is a HS Math and Computers teacher so he can handle my geekiness. We had a conversation about kissing at one point brought on by a story about Suzie that branched from my discussing the Deftones which was inspired by seeing a book of poems by Billy Corgan. Yeah, I'm random. He made a comment about his ex being a really bad kisser. "I guess it isn't always like getting slapped in the face by a sponge." OH NO!!! I felt so bad. I shared with him my thoughts on kissing being super important. It was very much a "fishing" conversation.
Then we went across the street to the mall. We wandered around talking some more but most stores were already closed. We both decided we had to come back for the Lego store. :-D Then we went back to our cars and said goodbye. He initiated a goodbye hug and began a conversation about hanging out again so I think that's a good sign. We might hang out either Fri or Sat. I guess I appeared lost as I was leaving because he called to make sure I knew where I was going. Then he told me he had a good time and wished me a safe flight. It was puring on the way home but I was in good spirits so I was singing to my hip-hop mix.
I was both trying to play cool and am still a bit weary after the Chris thing so I felt like I was very laid back. But then I worried that I might be sending a not interested vibe. So of course I thought about it too much. So when I got home and chatted with Sammy a bit I texted him. I just said "Made it home safe. Had a fun time tonight. Hope you have a good week." Figured that was chill but still said I am interested in spending more time with him which I am. He responded later with "Hi. Had a good time too. Enjoy your trip. See you soon." I thought that was very sweet.
Monday:
Didn't sleep too well. I think it was all the caffeine. But I had to be up before the sun anyway so I was just like "F it" Got to the airport and enjoyed my book and coffee. Two short flights later I was in Louisville and at the office. Made some good progress but was super tired. Bonez and I had lunch and are currently getting along well. We talked about getting drunk and such which was a lot of fun. I then went home and pretty much crashed with some bad TV.
Tuesday:
Bonez wanted to meet a little earlier so we said 7:30AM in the Starbucks in the hotel lobby. I went down a little earlier so I could sit in the comfy chair in the corner and read for a little while. My book (Deception Point by Dan Brown) is getting good. So at 7:45AM I call Bonez to see what's up. Her alarm hadn't gone off and I woke her up. Always fun! So I got to hang in Starbucks and read for another hour. YAY! Got to page 333 (of 557). I will probably wind up finishing this book this trip. Between some reading tonight, tomorrow morning and then on the flight home.
I'm pretty psyched to fly home tomorrow instead of Thursday. I miss Lisa. With her 2 vacations and my being here I've seen her for a total of like an hour in the past 3 weeks. That's not cool. I am also psyched for this weekend. I think we are going to be crazy on Friday night with the crew and I am inviting Troy to that so he can finally meet the crew. He's been my pseudo-boyfriend for a while which we both laugh about constantly. Then looks like I will get to have a fun second date with Ryan on Saturday hopefully. YAY!!! Throw in some laundry and such down at Peg's and it's got the makings of a super cool weekend. It is also my goal to get myself set for school this weekend. I plan to figure out what I have and what I need so that maybe I can go supply shopping. YAY!!! It's too bad neither Sam nor Anne are close enough to come with :-( I will have to find some other Staples junky to go with hehehehe.
Well I started this post at like 10:20am and it is not almost 4pm. This is what happens when work interferes. Plus this was long. Lots to write about. :-D
In time, in depth, in present tense
I'm cold and awful, yes I know
Uptight intent on making sense
We are who we are
In mind and breath, in my own head
I'm so unpopular, I know
In life and death, and second chance
We are who we are
