Sweep (Philip Hoffman, 1995)

Must he continue to use the term "Indians"?? It's freaking 1995 already!!

It felt too oblique to hold together as a documentary yet too static as an experimental "essay film". Some bright moments but generally it felt like a less successful version of techniques present in the films of Richard Kerr, Rick Hancox, Mike Hoolboom and even Hoffman's other work.

Or maybe I was just tired after the first two films and my ADD kicked in.

That happens.

experimental film, documentary
