wow, yesterday was awesome.

so me and nicole and these two cool australian cats and our mexican friend panchito all went to this little tiny garifuna village outside of tela in honduras. it was really amazing, all thatched roofs and it was on a peninsula about 50 meters wide with a sound on one side and the lake on the other and the weather was beautful, the food incredible, and the beach perfect. the only problem was there was way too many tiny little biting sand bugs.

i started counting my bites this morning and i got up to seventy something before i quit. fucking little anklebiters.

anyways, yesterday me and nicole decided to leave in the afternoon so we went to catch the 1:00 pickup out of town, but apparently it wasn't running because it was sunday so instead this old man found a couple pickup trucks of people who were leaving and arranged for them to give us a ride to the nearest town so we could catch a bus. so we hop in the back of this pickup truck with these three boys (aged 16, 18, and 20) and they open up their cooler and offer us some beers (tecate) which me and nicole were only too happy to accept and then i started chatting with them and they asked where we were headed so i told them we were trying to get to san pedro sula and they were like "oh! thats where we're going to!" so i said "well, you think we could come?" and they told me "sure, why not? the driver was headed there anyways." and the driver was drinking beers too and they just kept 'em coming, every time one of us ran out they were offering us another and when the cooler was empty we stopped to get more, and i tried to offer the guy some money but he wouldn't take it.

and at one point in the trip, we stopped on this spot in the road that the 16 year old told us about which was a gravity spot and you could see that you were on a hill and the road was going up but when we put this soda bottle on the ground it totally rolled up the hill! and we stopped at a finca to pick up a chainsaw that we got to ride in the back of the pickup truck with.

i liked the 16 year old, he was a funny kid. he knew a little english and he would practice it on us. like this is a dog, and cops just want money and what is your name and how old are you and stuff. and when i first got into the truck he said (in spanish) "you're sunburned, you've been in the sun all day huh?" and then later i busted out my mirror to see just exactly how sunburned i was and he started making fun of me for looking at myself and then i said "well, i'm just trying to see if i'm as sunburned as you told me i was" and he said, "really? i said that to you? well... what i meant to say is that you're a really beautiful woman!"

which i thought was hilarious.

and then the driver of the pickup (who was also super nice and in there with his 2 daughters and pregnant wife who told me that they were his life and the only thing he cared about) drove us right to the door of our hotel in the city and refused to accept any money for the beer or the ride and it was so awesome and by far the best transportation that i've had so far in centro america.

and we arrived at our hotel already drunk at about 5 or 6 in the afternoon.

fuckin awesome.
