A to Z

May 02, 2014 00:33

It's time I was in bed but I saw this A to Z thing on a blog in a galaxy far far away and just *had* to sit here obsessively filling in the letters with random *stuff* for the start of May.

A. Apple blossom. Our two trees are just coming out.

B. Bluebells. They're everywhere at the moment, even here on my LJ. *g*

C. Cuckoo's Egg by C.J. Cherryh. The book I'm presently reading.

D. Daisy Dalrymple. Crime series set in the 1920s by Carola Dunn. Love them.

E. Eggs. Hard-boiled. Mashed with finely chopped onions and chives, mixed with salad cream. Favourite sandwich filling.

F. Fish. As in breaded plaice from M&S, eaten for tea today. Very nice.

G. Grand-daughter. Arriving home from school today, wet hair, big grin, so pleased to see us. Growing up but thankfully still a young girl.

H. Henshall, Douglas. Yum.

I. Internet. Changed everything really.

J. Juice. Waitrose pomegranite is my favourite.

K. Kindle. Oh, how I love my older eReader.

L. Lord Peter Wimsey. Dorothy L. Sayers. How come I've not read these brilliant books until I'm 60? Astonishing.

M. Masterchef. John and Gregg. What's not to love?

N. Nook. Oh, how love my newer eReader!

O. Online friends. Precious. You know who you are.

P. Paxman, Jeremy. Leaving Newsnight. Woe!

Q. Quinquireme of Ninevah. From John Masefield's Cargoes. I've always loved the sound of it but not known what it was. It's an ancient Roman or Greek galley. So now you know. Possibly you already did.

R. Rhubarb. Needs picking... job for tomorrow.

S. Shetland. Brilliant BBC crime series based on Jimmy Perez books by Ann Cleeves. See 'H'. :-)

T. Tuesday. Fandom friends visiting. :-)

U. University Challenge. Favourite quiz show. Paxman hopefully *not* leaving.

V. Vinge, Vernor. Sci-fi author I've not read. Have A Fire Upon the Deep on tbr shelf. So many books...

W. Walton, Jo. Currently one of my favourite authors. Everyone should read Among Others.

X. X-Files. Whatever happened to David Whatshisface? Gillian Anderson has whole new career on British TV...

Y. Yellow. I look terrible in this colour.

Z. Zelazny, Roger. Another author of science fiction books that I've not read. But I have Doors of his Face, Lamps of his Mouth sitting on my tbr shelf... I just wish it was possible to read more than one book at a time.

ETA: semyaza has pinched this. Anyone else? Love to see other people's random musings. :-)
