Yay! You're all caught-up! :D

You have a point with the death-thing. Hmm... I'll just try to count the number of deaths they've had for a second...

John: killed by Azazel, gives up his life to make a deal to save Dean...
Dean: very nearly dies from the car crash, (the Trickster being himself could go here, but I don't count that as they were in a pocket dimension that wasn't real and if we did the numbers would be silly), death by Hellhound, shotgun-sprayed by two idiot hunters...
Sam: stabbed in the back by Jake, stabbed by Anna with a crowbar, shotgun-sprayed by two idiot hunters, swan-dived with Lucifer...
Bobby: neck snapped by Lucifer, shot in the noggin by Dick Roman...
Cas: blown up by Raphael, blown up by Lucifer, blown up by hundreds of Leviathan...
Adam: killed by ghouls, swan-dived with Michael...
Everyone else: Died but never came back to life.

Wow... I never realised just how overrated death is in this show until I typed all that down. And that's a shame, because I love the guy to bits!
Also, have you noticed something? When John, Dean, Sam, Bobby and Adam were brought back, it was always by an angel, a demon or a deal made with something. If we go with fan-theory, Castiel was brought back by God every time. 0_o

But the main take-home message? WE'VE GOT OUR BOYS BACK! If it weren't for the fact that - as you say - the boys are operating on a higher level than they were in the early seasons, you could put the last four episodes straight into season 2 or 3 and noone would be the wiser.
I LOVE the angel mythology and what-not, but the rapport between the boys was so much better before all the big guns came into play.

So yeah, I'm a happy camper right now.

Yeah, I wasn't going to start counting Dean's Trickster!deaths, because I don't think Death and the reapers even got a text about those.

There's been stuf going on with Castiel all along, that's been hinted, but never quite explored or answered, but I hope at some point it will be and that it will tie into the overall series arc as a whole

There has been a lot of stuff getting between Sam and Dean over the past several years. It's good to have them on the same page.

Also, Sam: Struck by lightning. Easy to miss in such a cracky episode, but yes, I-love-you-more-than-anything woman wished him dead in "Wishful Thinking".
Hm, breaks the angel/deal pattern...

I view that death the same way as the Trickster deaths. Actual Death never got a memo.

Slow reply is slow...

Wasn't that the teddy bear one? Lol, my bad.
Basically, my point was that every time Sam and Dean have been resurrected, you can point to who it was and usually its a deal or a powerful creature of some kind.

Castiel on the other hand? It's likely been God each time. Also, he's the only angel (or demon) to have been brought back. When humans die they go to Heaven, Hell or Purgatory. Monsters go to Purgatory too. In both cases, we know where they are being brought back from. It's never been explored where it is exactly that angels and demons go once they are killed.

I'd like to think that the tablet storyline may start to expand on the idea of angel/demon afterlife.

Yes it was the one with the teddy bear. It took me some angsty fanfic to realize, that right Sam was dead for a few minutes in that one - although caffienekitty has a point in that death probably never got the memo.

It would be great to get some info on angel/demon afterlife. Logically demons should be similar to ghosts that are destroyed, since they are just "ghosts with an ego", whereas unlike every other sentient being we've met so far (except maybe Death and the reapers) angels don't have a soul (according to Castiel), so it should be something completely different...

Yup! Angels have their grace, which is their equivalent of a soul. But, it isn't a soul and we've never seen any of the dead angels after they've been destroyed.

Hopefully, with the hints that have been dropped, it may get explored.
