No, I hadn't seen X-Men: first Class until now, but it's been a hell of a weekend, my aching head couldn't take much, and so it was time to watch something I wouldn't be capping.
-Now that's how to do a prequel!
-Mystique was raised as Charles' sister?? Wow, now I want to go back and rewatch the first X-Men with that in mind.
-Absolutely loved Erik's character arc. Felt very genuine and true to the future character.
-BTW, holy crap, I see what you all meant about the slash just leaping off the screen! In, like, three or four directions! O.o
-So many times going 'eee!' from little comic references I don't even know how I recognized. I'm blaming
lurkingwombat osmosis since I'm not actually sure if I've read an X-Men comic myself.
-That is about the most badass (in an evil way) character I've ever seen Kevin Bacon play. I was tremendously surprised, but I will admit, I haven't seen a lot of his stuff. Kind of neat to have his former co-star off Flatliners in there for a bit too. Oliver Platt who played the CIA guy with the secret base also played Steckle, the skeptic character in Flatliners.
-Wolverine cameo was perfect. And I may have made eep noises when Stryker was introduced.
-I would watch more of this ensemble and setting. So much more. I've skipped watching the last few X-Men franchise-related movies (the Wolverine backstory one and... I think there's another one after X-Men 3?) due to indifferent reviews, but now feel like I should track them down.
