I personally love the idea of the Valeyard, makes complete sense to me.
I know! I love extended continuity! I hope that Moffat being as much of a fan of the original series as I've heard he is does have plans to build up to that schism.
I am quite surprised by how much I like Rory. In the bits I'd heard before watching he sounded kind of bland and forgettable, so I'm very glad I heard wrong on that.
You picked up on the "both dreams" thing a lot earlier than I did...the funny thing is that what gave it away for me ('only one person hates me as much as you do') convinced you of the opposite. My chain of thought went: "Oh, it's the Doctor's self loathing! I guess they're both dreams."
I wonder if it's because I don't really know much about the classic series.
There is a lot of the classic series to watch to be fully aware of anything that might come up, but I wonder if someone's gone through and made a list of directly related episodes. If you just want a quick reference after watching, there is a quite thorough Doctor Who wiki. If you google anything and 'wiki' it's usually the second result that pops up.

Oh yes I know that quite well. I was speaking more in terms of the specific character quirks Eleven and Cumberbatch's Sherlock seem to share.
You really should watch all of Sherlock.

"Aw, Rory" is every episode for me (sometimes with "Wait-where is Rory?").

Out of none other than my own curiosity, what do you think of Eleven?
