Yeah, I know. It kinda lays out at least one major plotarc for what I suspect will be at least half the season. So I completely understand your wish to avoid it at all costs!
I flip-flop terribly on the question of spoilers. Sometimes I don't mind and sometimes I cover my eyes and plug up my ears and shriek, "LALALALA!" to avoid being spoiled.
I guess I figure if it's something the producers want us to see, and they release it, then I don't mind being teased. Frequently, as is the case with Paris Hilton, the speculation leads to pleasant surprises. I mean, she's still a stunt casting, which I kinda hate Show for pulling, but OTOH her appearance was not a Jump the Shark moment in the context of the story and it was far from the worst moment of the season so far (Ummm.... Cas in a brothel, anyone?). So usually if the producers show us something ahead of time, it's because they want to mislead us - or, I think, get us all worried and bothered so that when the reality shows up, it's "not as bad as I thought it would be."
Going in unspoiled is usually the most genuine viewing experience. I have to say there have been times I've been spoiled and wish I hadn't been, and there've been times I've been spoiled and was glad because I didn't have to have the freakout.
