SPN Fanfic: Reality is a Matter of Opinion

Sep 10, 2009 12:00

I'm still nervous about this fic and not really happy with it, but I posted it f-locked earlier and people encouraged me not to delete it. I might make changes to it yet. With my apologies, here it is:

I might unlock it after all, even though I know you and the only other person to comment so far are biased. It'll be unlocking and re-dating at Noon, since 3PM I'm likely going to be over my head in accounts at work. :-P

Nitpicks fixed, I think.

Don't delete it!!! I think this is really really great. I had a few nit-picky comments, but I was so absorbed in reading that I've forgotten them. I love the balance-- it could have been pure crack, but instead it's fabulous balance of serious and silly, and a completely enjoyable read.

Okay, between you and sandrinnad I have been convinced to unlock instead of delete. I'll be unlocking this at noon, since I've realized my work schedule for 3PM is going to be too crazy to sneak into LJ. If you can remember the nit-picks I'll fix them.

I've only read about 2/3 of the story but my rpg-group is waiting right now ;)
Don't you dare delete this small gem. It's funny, it's interresting and it has a halfelven ranger trying to level in it ;) Seriously, I think the story is good. Will write more afterwards...

So I've finally finished reading and it is a very interesting story. I enjoyed how you put small funny things in it but kept it still firmly away from pure crack. You didn't make totally fun of RPGs or LARPs and there was no actual Harry Potter quoted (that's a huge plus from me because I can't stand those books). But what I loved best is how Sam and Dean acted. Again they felt very in character and I could totally imagine them being driven insane by the RPG-geeks.

Getting the ghost to rest by not burning but answering his desire was sweet. A good story, really.

Thanks! I was trying for a balance with the way I wrote the RPGers, because I am one, so I'm glad that worked, and I'm glad the situation between Sam and Dean worked as well.

I like it. What I think I liked the most was the characterization of Sam and Dean, and how they're kinda looking sideways at each other, trying to avoid that direct confrontation, and even something as simple as a nonviolent haunting is still shoving how they've changed into their faces. And yet it's still light enough with a splash of crack because of the game.

*glee* Thanks! I've wanted to get the boys somehow into an RPG situation since season 1, (the werewolf anecdote from Sam is a plot-bunny that never took off, and there are others in the bunny pen that have passed their hopping days) so when Kripke had LARPing, it was an opportunity not to be missed. I'm really glad the character exploration of the boys changedness worked, it was probably the aspect I was most nervous about. :-)

You do realize when you next change your icon, this comment will make no sense, right? :-D

Also, thank you. :-)

Harry Potter books. And burning, oh that must have been difficult to write. *hugs you*.

I knew the ghost wouldn't let it happen, so it wasn't too rough. :-)

Incidentally I also want a copy of this--and all your stuff:)

*facepalm*

Killing Barney is certainly up on the list of things that need doing *nods*

Yus. *nods*

*blushes mightily at the rest of your comment* Yeah, you might need to lay off the drugs :-)
