listen close, beat by beat

I am conflicted about whether or not I want to be a grown up. Very conflicted.

Next Friday I will see Bad Religion at the Roseland; one of my favorite bands in one of my favorite venues. The thing that I love about Bad Religion is that they are just as great now as they were back in the day. While they've changed over the years, they have maintained a quality and, more importantly, an integrity that seems hard to come by these days. They've moved up some financial rungs--the Roseland sure beats someone garage--or does it?--but they're still kicking ass and taking names. This is a band I don't need my time machine to see in concert, and that makes me so happy.

Bands I Need My Time Machine to See In Concert:
-AFI (because they would be better in someone's basement--I would work my way through their albums and phases chronologically)
-Sleater-Kinney (while I did see them before they split up, I would repeat the AFI approach)
-TSOL (before Code Blue was on a t-shirt)
-Minor Threat (we'd get shitfaced together) (just kidding)
-Black Flag (once without Henry Rollins, many times with)
-Bikini Kill (I want to see Kathleen Hanna scream all that out instead of just hear it)
-The Misfits (no Danzig, no dice)
-The Beatles (duh)
-No Doubt (when Gwen Stefani was cool the first time)
-Jimi Hendrix (I would pee my pants)
-Janis Joplin (but not in the front row--she scares me!)
-Simon Garfunkel (they would play Scarborough Fair and I would cry)
-Run DMC (I would have to buy some Adidas first)
-Red Hot Chili Peppers (with John Fruscianti, before and after)
-lots of others I can't think of right now
