Less social network, more blogging/LJ

At work we're allowed to Facebook, Twitter, amd even YouTube as long as we are productive during the day. My boss is very lenient like that but that only made me check Facebook, emails, and Twitter more than ever in an hour!

So last night I was reading social media news and there was this infographic on how much a company can lose in a year because of the number of times employees check their emails and Facebook (or other social network pages). Another article I came across was about statistics on Facebook users in the UAE and that while users in the region are climbing at a fast rate, many users also want to quit. Why? We all know why. Facebook is a source of their insecurities and jealousy of other people's lives because it has become a breeding ground for users to flaunt what material things they have and what accomplishments they have achieved. It is a vicious cycle because this is also the cause why people brag on their Facebook pages and the cycle never stops!

Well, long story short, I am taking a baby step away from my personal Facebook account from now unless it is work related. I SERIOUSLY believe I need social network detoxification even for just a few days or a week.
