procrastinating

It seems that the only time I ever write on livejournal is when I'm trying desperately to procrastinate. Alas, I should be studying for any of my three exams this week, but I can't seem to bring myself to get back to it. I really don't want to study any more accounting, as it's making me nothing but sleepy and cold, though the cold may be completely unrelated :-p

Retreat this weekend was awesome, not only because I got to hang out with a lot of friends I hadn't seen in way too long, but also because the place Jess found was amazing. I loved hiking Sugarloaf Mountain when I was little, because each trial is color coded, and you have to follow the colored markings on the trees to make sure you're going the right way and haven't accidently started on another colored trail. It had been too long since I'd been back, so it was great fun to hike it with everyone, though I'm afraid I got ahead of everyone as I really don't like pacing myself in order to stay with whoever I'm with if they're slower than me -- nothing against them, it's just hard for me to walk slowly. The view from the top was breathtaking as always, and I'm sad that I didn't get to hike more of it than we did. The trail down was less fun as we took the orange trail down which had gotten a lot steeper and rockier than I remembered, and I somehow managed to fall and slide down a fair ways. Fortunately all that was bruised was my ego and partially my butt. Oh well! The retreat center was amazingly beautiful also, and a lot comfier than anywhere we'd gone so far. The rooms were hotel-like, in that each room had two beds and its own shower/sink area, which made us all happy. The big common rooms were comfy and well furnished, and the place had a beautiful deck with rocking chairs and a large stadium-like stepped sitting area. We didn't have to cook any of our own food, as they serve meals there, though waking up to eat at 8am wasn't much fun. But we played tons of games, and the girls beat the guys in Battle of the Sexes friday night, which meant that the boys had to clear the tables after every meal for the rest of the stay. I was sad that I had to leave a day early, but I knew I'd get even less studying done if I'd stayed until this (sunday) morning.

I have three big exams this week, which hopefully won't be too hard. I'm soooo happy about what happened in marketing last week, as it means that I don't have to stress out as much about that exam as I would have. For those of who you haven't yet heard the story, my marketing teacher offers ways to get automatic A's in the class without taking the final. For example, the two people with the top grades in the class before the final and the two with the most participating points before the final receive automatic A's and don't have to take the final. On Tuesday he gave us a pop quiz on the chapter we were supposed to have read for that class, and due to the amount of homework I'd been assigned that weekend, it was the first time I hadn't read the chapter ahead of time. I knew I'd failed it, but fortunately he said that it didn't count for anything but if anyone could get over 90% they would receive an automatic A without the final. On thursday he told us that the highest grade on the quiz had been a 58, and despite the fact that I hadn't read the chapter, I'd received one of the top 3 scores in the class, which I found really funny. He said that he'd give us one more chance, and so he gave us a pop quiz on the next chapter. I'd fortunately made sure to study that extra hard in case he decided to give us another chance, and so really knew the material and since he practically gives us his exam questions ahead of time in the test packet he gave us at the beginning of the semester, and I always fill them out while I study and review the chapter, I knew most of the answers to the questions ahead of time. Needless to say, I was the only one in the class who received above a 90 (I got a 95%) and so I already have an A in the class without the final, and short of skipping the rest of the semester I have an A without having to worry about the next few exams. I had the highest grade in the class just from the first two exams, so there was a good chance that I'd get an automatic A anyway, but now I can relax and not worry about waiting until right before the final to know that I have an A! It makes my life about 10 times easier :)

I have a large urge to watch Casino Royale, but I think I'm actually going to be a good girl and get back to studying now :)

Until the next time I have a need to procrastinate, ciao!
