Great times!

Yesterday was probably the highlight of my break so far. I got me, Jenny, and Kara tickets to see The Dog and Everything, Swizzle Tree, Split Habit, and Pomeroy at the Metro last night. We all left here around 3:30 on Metra, and got downtown at around 4:45. All of us had a good time on the train talking and generally screwing around while sharing a nuke that I had made. We went across the street to The Billy Goat Tavern for a quick bite to eat and once again proving that I know good restaurants. After that, we took the L to right by Wrigley Field and walked to the Metro. We all went in, got our coats checked, bought Dog T-shirts and the Dog CD, and went up to the stage area. We were really close to the house left bank of speakers, so I didn't exactly have a tough time hearing the music. =) We waited for Pomeroy to come on, and they were much better than I expected. They were a funk/rap fusion band that actually had a good sound to it. Their best song of their set was when they did a good cover of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." Then came Split Habit. They were a pop-punk trio that was all right and for the most part was uninspiring. They sounded kinda like a mixture between Green Day and New Found Glory. The only song that really got me going was "Angel." Try to find it if you can. Next came Swizzle Tree, and they were awesome. The only bad part for it is that the sound system was cranked the fuck up and the hearing in my left ear was shot for the rest of the night. On top of that, they had the bass way too high up in the mix and it didn't sound that great. Then came The Dog and Everything. They kicked some major ass! All of their songs were awesome and totally surprised me when they did a killer cover of "Video Killed the Radio Star" that really had the place going crazy. After they had closed the show out with "Hey Luv," everyone cleared out of the stage area. At the bottom of the stairs a guy was teasing people with something that I didn't know was, so I went after it. I finally won them, and it turns out that it's a pair of tickets to see Allister on February 6th at the Metro again. After getting those, I went downstairs with everybody and bought a Pomeroy CD, and Kara did as well. The lead singer of Pomeroy signed both of our CD's, so it was all good. I bought both Swizzle Tree CD's for Jenny and the Split Habit CD for her. We went into McDonald's down the street for a quick pit stop and then went to the L station to catch an L all the way back across the Loop. This was our crunch time. We had to get from The Metro to LaSalle Station in 35min. We got off the L and went as fast as we could to LaSalle St. Station. We were on the platform for the train when I saw the conductor start to close the doors. I yelled for him to wait a second, and took off sprinting. I got to the door, and the asshole of a conductor just slammed the doors in my face. We were stranded at LaSalle Station for an hour and a half while waiting for another train. I thought that it was going to suck, but all we did was go to the L station right by the Metra station there and got drinks from a pop machine there. We went back to the station and just hung out and screwed around. We got on the train at around 12:05 and got home around 1:30. Kara dropped Jenny and me off at my house, and I took her home. After that, I went to White Castle for a couple of bacon cheeseburgers, came home, and went to bed. It was probably one of the best concert experiences I have had in a long time, and I hope that I can have more in the future. Well, I have to do some burning now, so I will talk to all of you later.

Much Love,
Adam
