I'm thinking of starting a collective multi-media art space (production/gallery/venue) here in hawaii, and I'm scared because:

A) It'll be a lot of Money
B) It'll be a lot of Work
C) It's a five year lease for the space I'm looking at which means I'll feel stuck in hawaii, even if I would have other people running it with me and could leave... in other words, it will be a lot of Time
D) Hawaii doesn't have anything like this yet (at least not workspaces to store and produce art and exhibit art) so it'll be A LOT of work
E) If I invest a bunch of time into this and it falls through, I'll be crrushed

BUT, the space I'm looking at is huge and amazing and already partitioned off into 13 rooms. The leasee even is giving me a break on the rent to help me get started... after I disucussed the idea with his wife, she hugged me!
And a few friends have pointed out to me that even if it would be easier and cheaper to start a space like this in another state, it would really have so much more of an impact here. There are really really talented kids here, but they don't really have a venue that they can come and work together on anything and be inspired by each other (outside of a higher-ed system)

What do you think I should do, dudes?
