i have some. (subjects)

So my parents didn't come home yesterday, instead, Dad had more spinal surgery to deal with a bone splinter that was pushing his sciatic nerve.  They'll be home in ~ a week (from yesterday).

I think that means that, among other things, Mom won't get to come down to school with me.  We're supposed to start driving Thursday morning, and if they're not back until late Thursday (or later) then I'll be *gone*.  I haven't seen mom since like 7 July.  She went on family vacation, I went to Portland the morning of the day they were coming back.  I came back from Portland the evening of the day they left for Costa Rica.  I may be leaving for school the morning of the day they come back from CR...
1) This sucks.  She didn't come last year because she got sick, and now she might miss the trip again.
2) I'll have that much more room in the car, I guess, for stuff.  But I don't know for sure.
3) I have 2 friends graduating the 11th, and a wedding I've been invited to.  I haven't responded to the wedding invite because I didn't know if Mom was going, and it seemed lame to bring her 1100 miles and say "There's campus, I'm off to a wedding, and see ya."  So if she's not coming, then I'd be honored.  If she is, I'd still be honored, but I have to figure out how to get her situated.

New subject.

Roomies.  A couple weeks ago I called Philip, so that I could find out what apartment-y stuff was already there (dishes, cooking utensils, etc.), and he said he wasn't sure, but he'd check with Chad, and get back to me soon.  Notice the "a couple weeks ago" part.  So 2 nights ago I called Chad, who actually had information for me.
There're plates and cups and utensils and cooking stuff.
There's a TV in the common room.
There're some snags.  Like, most of the cooking stuff and the TV belong to his *ex*, who might be wanting them back.  And he and Philip are trying to see about living off campus this year.  In which case he'd be taking his stuff with when he goes.  He'll try to let me know whether or not they're leaving sometime in the next couple days, so that I can pack appropriately.  (Michelle has plenty of cooking stuff, but it's packed away, and if I have to move a ton of stuff to get to it, and make room in my car for it, I want to know SOON.)  And even if he's not leaving, we might get there and find out that homegirl wants her stuff back, and still not have cooking things.
In other news: Philip seems like a fairly laid-back, easygoing fellow.  Chad, possibly, talks as much as I do, which is scary, and is more energetic than Philip.  Hanson... I haven't managed to reach, and I'm a little worried based on his being a FRESHIE.  But whatever.

Talked to the daytime_ninja yesterday for a while, he seems to be doing well.  I'm looking forward to seeing him, although he'll arrive too late to be used as labor for my move from Madison to Building 7.  Ooh, hey, speaking of which... anyone I can press into service for my move (which will probably be done, or, at the very least, quite well started the evening of the 10th), will be paid with food and beverage (I'm thinking pizza and soda.  You want beer, and are of age, I'll buy ya one when I'm not on duty.)  I have to get a good bit of piddly stuff from Madison to 7, as well as Comfy Couch(!!!), the most Comfy Couch... ever.  Really.  It's not going to be hard stuff.  I just want company while it gets done.  And it'll take waaaay less time if I don't have to run the stairs a thousand times with an armful, but instead can have four people run stairs 250 times.  (it won't take that many trips, I just don't want to have to do them all myself.)

I should be rolling in a week from today, mid-to-late afternoon.  Crazy.

**Edit** did y'all know that clicking on the "VA" location takes you to a map of part of italy?  Whooo for being wrong...
