How far into the past? I was thinking about the position of the body--the cross form. The Iron Cross is an old German symbol that has had considerable military significance since 1870 when it came to represent Germany's armed forces.

[It takes Justin about ten minutes to get to the lab, and he has his network device off for the duration of the walk. He doesn't have much to say about the murder, anyway; no one's coming forward with information about Weiss, and any conclusions they can draw from what they have will be purely speculative.

He enters the lab quietly (although the quiet entrance is somewhat botched by his unerring ability to trip over the doorjamb). Justin is down one pair of reading glasses and he looks slightly more sleep-deprived than normal. The very tops of healing bruises--light purple and dark green--barely show over his high collar.]
