CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Akihiko Sanada - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
In-Game Name: Akihiko Sanada
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Position & Ship: Silvana, gunner
Appearance: Akihiko stands a little taller than average height, and is leaner than one would expect from a boxer. He has short silvery white hair, and grey eyes to match. He exudes an aura of confidence, and keeps a poker face until the subject turns to fighting, in which case he gets excited.
He's always dressed nicely - a sweater vest over a dress shirt and slacks, and a tie to go with it, with a jacket in the winter. He's always wearing gloves of some sort, most often his thin black ones, and always carries a gun - only in battle while he was still in school, and once he started traveling, he was never seen without it.
Personality: Akihiko, well, Akihiko likes to fight. He's obsessed with training, always trying to become stronger, and he has the focus and drive to make it worthwhile. He has this obsession for a reason - when he was younger, he lost his sister, and he swore to become stronger to prevent it from happening again. He'll risk everything he has to save someone in danger, whether he goes at it alone or not, and this makes him recognize and admire bravery in others.
It may seem like Akihiko's all brawn and no brain, but that's far from the truth. He knows that fighting isn't always the best way to handle a situation, even if that's what he'd rather do. If someone is being stubborn, he'll lay off and let them have their space. He's one of the more intelligent and observant members of SEES, able to view situations objectively in order to come up with strategies that use both logic and his intuition.
When he's somewhere that doesn't involve fighting, he appears cool and confident. However, all this flies out the window when he gets into a situation that's more social than he'd like. He has no concept of romance, and he isn't the type to seek out friends. He gains acquaintances through being forced to work together with someone for an extended period of time. He's always cordial in these relationships, and it can take a long time for those bonds to mature to friendship. When they do, they cannot be broken.
Abilities/Weapons: Akihiko's primary weapon is his fists. He was the captain of the boxing team at his school in Vohemar, and that paid off. Akihiko isn't the physically strongest fighter, but his main strength comes from his focus. He doesn't let anything get in the way of what needs to be done.
After he'd turned his Evoker into a fully functional revolver, he gained no small amount of skill with it. It's not the hands-on approach that he would like, but even he knows that sometimes close-quarters combat isn't the best idea. It serves its purpose, and makes itself useful enough to keep practicing with it.
Akihiko's most powerful ability is the ability to use his Persona, the manifestation of one's personality and the "mask" one uses to face hardship. Akihiko's Persona is called Caesar, and it appears as a man in a Roman tunic and cape, with a sword in one hand and a globe in the other, crowned with a laurel wreath. Its specialty is lightning attacks. In addition, it has some healing magic, and its lightning specialty allows it to make all lightning attacks ineffectual, even when it isn't summoned.
How well can your character hack? Not at all. He's competent with the journals and other electronic equipment, but technology really isn't his thing.
Weaknesses: Akihiko's greatest weakness is his social ineptitude. Aside from politeness to strangers, Akihiko's focus is always on training or whatever errand at hand. When he has neither of those to focus on, his social awkwardness always comes out in full force. Since he always thinks about training, his small talk tends to be about that as well.
This may not seem like that big of a deal, but it is precisely because of this that Akihiko feels unable to help his friends when they're in need. He knows he isn't good with words, and he generally lets people handle problems on their own, while keeping his distance. The fact that a friend needs help, coupled with his inability to do anything about it, affects his mood. When he feels compelled to confront someone about it, accompanied with a punch to the face if he feels it's called for, it's usually someone else who ends up solving the problem.
Summoning Caeasar also takes a mental and physical toll - doing so invokes all the trauma involved in shooting yourself in the head, time after time never getting any easier. Since he modified his Evoker, it also carries with it the fear that he forgot to take out the bullets and really will shoot himself. Summoning it frequently in a short period of time leaves him tired, sometimes completely exhausted. Because of this, Akihiko will only summon Caesar for just long enough as it takes for it to do what it needs to do - whether it's dealing some lightning damage, some healing magic, or putting a little extra damage behind a physical attack. Just as he has Caesar's resistances when it isn't summoned, he also keeps its weakness. Caesar is weak to ice, and Akihiko will take more damage from it compared to other attacks.
History: Akihiko was raised in an orphanage in a small town in Vohemar, along with his sister Miki, and his closest friend there was a boy named Shinjiro Aragaki. Life wasn't bad there, all things considered, until one day, a fire broke out, and Miki was trapped in the burning building. Akihiko was held back by the adults there, unable to run in and try to save her, and she died. This inspired his resolve to get stronger, and prevent anyone else from meeting the same fate.
A few years passed, and Akihiko and Shinjiro were both fifteen. They had continued going to school together, and it was in this year that the both of them awakened to their Personas - Castor for Shinjiro and Polydeuces for Akihiko, reflecting their bond. Before things got out of hand with them, a girl named Mitsuru Kirijo contacted Akihiko after one of his boxing meets. She held out a gun, which he later found out was an Evoker, and asked him to join the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, or SEES, in order help her fight enemies called Shadows, enemies which attacked people's minds in the middle of the night, leaving them practically as zombies.
Akihko did not want Shinjiro to join SEES out of fear that Shinjiro could not control his Persona, but Shinjiro invited himself and joined anyway. Akihiko looked forward to the fights, considering them perfect opportunities to train. Things went well for them with their double lives - students by day and saving-the-world unknown heroes by night - until something went wrong. One night, Shinjiro lost control of his Persona, killing a woman, and had subsequently fled before Akihiko and Mitsuru could get there. Akihiko tried to chase after him, running all over the city, yelling for him to come back, and that it wasn't his fault, but his efforts were in vain. Akihiko realized he would never see him again, and always kept up hope that Shinjiro was all right, wherever he was.
Akihiko stayed with Mitsuru and the Kirijo Group for three years after that, becoming closer to her and to all the others who would later join SEES. In the span of six months, their numbers grew exponentially, from two to eight, more than doubling in the influx's first month. Before they knew it, the time would come to fight a battle against a Shadow that would probably end in their deaths. Akihiko made a promise to himself not to be afraid and to take whatever came his way, and to reflect this newfound resolve, Akihiko's Persona evolved from Polydeuces to Caesar.
They won the fight, and everything was quiet for a few months. During those months, Akihiko made some slight modifications to his Evoker, turning it into a fully functional revolver, while keeping its Evoker abilities when there were no bullets inside it. He practiced and practiced with it, and while not a perfect shot by any means, all the practice showed whenever he used it in the field. But this was not to last, and the Shadows resurfaced again.
By this time, Akihiko had graduated school, and he set off to find as much information as he could on the Shadows, and maybe find a way to try to eliminate them all. He heard rumors about a ship called the Silvana, and while he was excited to find out about their combat record, the most important thing to him was the ship's neutrality, theoretically giving him an easy way to get around and track down the information he needed.
