Aaaaaaugh!
Life on Mars is going on hiatus until January 28th. I don't really watch more than a couple of hours of TV a week these days and this is the show I look forward to every week. The episodes are on Hulu for now so I might have to rewatch the episodes to stave off the withdrawal symptoms.
In short it's about a cop who was hit by a car and now finds himself in two places at once. In present day he's lying in a hospital bed somewhere in a comatose state. However, he is also walking the streets of New York City circa 1973 somewhere else and finds that there's a desk waiting for him at the local precinct. The time travel aspect can't be easily written off as a dream though because through his experiences here he is finding true connections between his past and his present and mysterious higher powers seem to have placed him there to either help him understand his present or change his future.
Setting the eerie sci-fi aspect aside, there are a lot of fish-out-of-water comedy moments such as this:

Great cast too, includes: Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli, and Gretchen Mol (raaaarrr)
