But despite that (and, honestly, it had the odd effect of making ship on-screen M/L ever so slightly more) people on TWoP saying that Lexie had an agenda, it was all about her wishes, and she was just forcing her attentions on him (and much, much worse, that I can't remember in detail, but know it was much harsher than what I just wrote) when all she had consciously done (because, yeah, we're all screwed up a little bit, and maybe some of that was under the surface, but still) was try to be kind to a man she liked and had hurt (physically and his ego) seemed attached, mean and a little bit over the top. And, honestly, I wonder if they would have stood a chance if she hadn't insisted on staying with him - because I think, without that, all his defense mechanisms would have come into play.
Okay, rambling now. That's not the point of this post, is it? LOL
See, I have nothing to compare the GA community with. But the comparison you make with Stargate and SVU sounds valid as far as I can judge. The M/L community is very new, though. I sometimes run into Mark/Addison fic by writers I don't know (or at least are new to me).
ETA: because it takes me two go's to make syntactic sense of a sentence!

Oh yes, I read through the threads after the fact and same of the stuff they said had my jaw dropping. Are we watching the same show with the same characters, like really?

Well, I'm lurking Stargate fandom, and I was in SVU for only like 8 months. My knowledge isn't hardly extensive on the subject :/
