Unimpeachable School Excuse Notes
Some friends of ours who live in NZ told us an amusing story about then Prime Minister Helen Clark. She doesn't have her own plane; she flies from one part of NZ to another on commercial flights. One such flight was diverted due to bad weather causing a student aboard to miss classes. Ms. Clark wrote him an excuse note.
This sounds pretty plausible in a country of only 4 million people. However, yesterday when president Obama held a town hall-style meeting in Green Bay, WI about health reform one of the questioners mentioned that his daughter was missing her last day of school so that she could attend. Without missing a beat the President said, "Do you need me to write a note?" and he wasn't kidding, see the video below. Also, this NPR link has photos of the note.
