Some friends of ours who live in NZ told us an amusing story about then Prime Minister Helen Clark. She doesn't have her own plane; she flies from one part of NZ to another on commercial flights. One such flight was diverted due to bad weather causing a student aboard to miss classes. Ms. Clark wrote him an excuse note.
This sounds pretty plausible in a country of only 4 million people. However, yesterday when president Obama held a town hall-style meeting in Green Bay, WI about health reform one of the questioners mentioned that his daughter was missing her last day of school so that she could attend.
