Another update

So today is my son's, Donovan's Birthday, the little guy is 8 now and in the second grade. It's amazing how much he's grown really, I'm looking at a picture next to me of me and him when he was 5 minutes old and I was 18. At just under 7 lbs he was so small and fragile, and though he's more independent now he's still very impressionable. It's hard sometimes to make him understand that just because all the kids at school act one way, that doesn't mean that is how he is supposed to be. I don't want to tell him how to be, but more I want him to understand that he has a choice to be how ever he wants to and that he doesn't have to be like "them" to be "accepted". I think having Jessica around him as an influence is a really good thing, she's very patient with him and takes her time with him and likes to see him grow. I don't mean to scare the hell out of her or anything, but she will be a great mother when that time comes.

Saturday we were going to take him to KSC's Visitor Complex for his birthday, instead of presents everybody ended up giving him birthday cash, and he opted to go around town and spend that. So we went to Odyssey Pizza in Cocoa (a place I used to always go as a kid) and then we headed to the mall, then the bookstore, and finally to Toy's R Us. He spent every dime that was given to him which is fine... it's his birthday and he can do what he wants to. We finished up the day with Ice Cream at Marble Slab. It was a good day and I hope he had fun cause I did.

That night Jessica and I met up with Rob at a party for Jessica's work, it was good times, lots of friendly people. And it looks like I have been accepted into the Jimmy's which is good I suppose, those girls are colorful each in their own way and they're pretty fun to get drunk with.

Jessica and I have some shows to go to soon, Queensryche at the end of this month (its over the top hair metal, but I grew up to it and love it, so shut it okay) and then The Who w/ the Chili Peppers and The Killers in Baltimore next month. I've always wanted to see RHCP but Im really going for The Who... you bet your ass I'm willing to drive 15 hours to see 'em too...they're THE FUCKING WHO, MAN!! So good times ahead there.

It looks like, if Jess gets that job in Ft. Pierce, that we'll be moving to Sebastian or Vero Beach. The plan is to rent a house, because truthfully Im over this apartment life shit, tired of tiptoeing everywhere. Besides we need the room for my darkroom and Jessica's piano. Vancouver is still the ultimate goal and I haven't lost sight of that in the slightest and I know what has to be done to get there. And thats one of the great lessons I've learned about life... Is that we live in a world where we can have anything that we want, we just have to be willing to accept and do whatever it takes to get it.

Tonight while I'm at work, I get to give a tour to an FMU post I class... I wonder if I should smile and nod or tell them the truth about FMU (Fucking Messed Up)?
