I don't turn my hands to verse often these days (nor to this site, for that matter), but I thought this the most appropriate venue for this.

Gary Gygax died today,
That guy who taught us how to slay
Dragons, beholders, and orcs.
However much we got called dorks
His game is part of who we are,
And I'm proud as I raid dungeons far.
So with imaginations strengthened well
By battling devils in the Nine Hells
We roll our twenty sided die,
And picture good ol' Gax of Gy
Sitting, smoking, eating pie
Behind a great DM screen in the sky.
