Title: "Drowned Baby"
by menegroth, illustration for a story by galadhir
Characters: Midshipmen Mr. Gillette and Mr. Norrington
Rating: G
Media: Indian ink and watercolour on 140lb cotton paper
Disclaimer: No harm meant, no money made. And as much as I would want those two to be mine, they're not. I'm just playing with them, and will put them back unharmed when I'm done. ;)
The quotes from the story were taken without explicit permission from the author ~ I humbly beg forgiveness for that, and hope that my wish to make this a surprise will be accepted as excuse. :)
Summary:
"Besides, the better part of him answered, remembering what it was for everything to be new and wondrously strange. The prospect of showing all his favourite things to an admiring audience appealed. This could even be fun."
Senior midshipman Norrington finds an unexpected ally.

Because I'm currently packing and getting ready to leave on what promises to be an awesome weekend ~ I shall give you some artwork to brighten your start into your weekend. Many thanks to galadhir for the constant temptation and inspiration! That lady breeds some high-quality picbunnies.... ;)

“On the whole,” he said, thoughtfully, glancing sideways at the boy,
whose drowned-baby looks were transformed into something almost
pleasant by the wonder with which he watched the alien shore, “I’m
glad you are on my side.”
“Always.” The formidable boy gave a smile of ‘butter wouldn’t melt
in his mouth’ cuteness.
