How absolutely adorable! And it all fits in, the tradition, the development of the story - and can I just say that I find the arrangement of the individual panels spot on? The focus on hand, apple and the feet in card no. 3 (aww, I SO know what he hopes the letter will be!) and the lovely centre piece in card four, with the different expressions of the two. I love Gillette's hand offering the apple, so elegant! And of course the loving gaze they exchange in the last card - I'm absolutely in love with this! You tell so much without "writing everything out" - actually, if one knows the custom, 3 - 5 would work even without any text at all, you've done that so well.
You, mylady, could keep up a running monologue in my LJ and I would still hug you, squeeze you and call you George the first moment I got a chance. So nyah! ;)
I know I teased you an awful lot about this, and I hope you'll forgive me for that. ;)
The fun I had with "telling" this story was a bit marred by the worries over structure, framing, and the experimenting with ink pen shading (which could very well have ruined the entire thing at any moment). But looking back, it was worth it. Not to mention that I saved all stages of the thing to have a safety backup. *g*
And what do you need apples for, now? *bats eyelashes cutely*
In other words: HUZZAH!
PS: must buy apples.
