red sox nation & shopping adventures

i have recently been informed by my lovely roommate timeripple that the red sox lost their game today, which means they are now done for the season.  despite the fact that i am now living in red sox nation & probably will be here for the next 2.5 years at the very least, can i just say how nice this is?  *cringesdon'thate/hitme*

since our as-of-yet-nameless abode is in close proximity to fenway park, we get all kinds of really, really, really horrendous traffic of the vehicular & homo sapien variety whenever there's a game & it's a real pain to have to arrange my schedule around game/bar crowds when i want to go somewhere.  so yes, it will be nice not to have to deal with that anymore until the pre-season.  that & the fact that if i had to root for any baseball team, it would be the yankees.  hey - i grew up in the nyc metro area.  it's either that or the mets.  either way, they're not red sox people.

timeripple & i also went on a brief shopping trip downtown today which was spectacularly unsuccessful, but we did manage to check another chinese bakery off our list.  we shall see how this one pans out.  in any case, our attempts at shoe/bag shopping failed rather well & i have found that my latent asian-ness (aka fondness for cute things) has emerged.  at one store i saw these pair of glittery brown shoes with bows - so cute!!  they fit, but there was no way i'd buy them because the glitter would get everywhere & the soles had no traction whatsoever, but they made me extremely happy. :)

here's a picture:

they look better in person.

at another store i found a small bag shaped kind of like a cube, but since it was i think a dooney & bourke bag, even at a discounted price, it cost about $98 - too rich for my taste.  still - very cute!
