Today, April 18th, was the first warm day of spring. After the usual grey cool start to the day, the sky turned blue and temperature reached 22C (in my greenhouse it reached 47C - I had forgotten to open the door during the morning).
My little car, VW Polo 1.9 litre diesel turbo.
In the afternoon I visited an area of government forest where in a week or two I will begin a project to survey the beetle fauna. The results I produce will be included in the forest conservation management plan. I have vehicle access, and after driving 1km into the woodlands, parked and walked in various different woodland areas to find suitable locations to put insect traps. I met no other people, birds were singing, several different butterflies visiting flowers . . . and the sun felt good.
