perhaps i am pretty good about updating my lj.....
i forgot to tell you all this:
i went to pick up my $20 check
(i only worked 3 hours before i went home) on friday from my job and it
wasn't there! i was like, aw snap, i needs my 20 bones cause i'm broke
as hell. my boss obviously was not there so i left a respectfully
aggressive note about needin' my cheese. so, she just e-mailed me and
said that she has left $20 in my mailbox and that i can pay her back
when i get paid. that's pretty good news when you only have like $4 in
your pocket. my mom has also agreed to send me money, despite my not
wanting to ask her for it. jeez.....
i've been freakin' out about my
research project because there is like nothing written on Black theatre
in the 1940s and 1950s. everything is there on playwrights and new
york, but nothing on Chicago. it's really frustrating and a bit
discouraging. *sigh* i really need my mentor to get her ass back here
and like help me. she's all like, "i gotta finish my book because i am
so important and i'm gonna be so famous that i need to think about me."
(ok, so i exaggerate a little...ahem...) but still, she has been quite
inaccessible lately. it sucks because i don't have much time.
anyhow, enough of my rantings. i
went to the "Taste of Chicago" on friday and it was crowded and
expensive and i decided not to eat anything. ll cool j was there and i
saw him from far away and was not impressed. he is so washed up. i
mean, retire while you still have some dignity. then i saw the mvie
"Rize," which if you haven't seen it is unbelievable. it's about this
new black dance form the has emerged in the black areas of LA and Watts
in California. there is also a bit of history behind who formed it and
also these clown groups that have formed and such. it's really random,
but really interesting. you can expect the coverage to blow up anytime
soon. it'll be all over BET and MTV and in every pop/soda commercial
you can think of. hey, it may be a way out of the ghetto for some of
them. you can see the trailer here:
http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=trailer&id=1808624625 so, i got a lot to do. i'ma take
a shower and then work out today. i feel this overwhelming need to get
in shape. or at leats fill my boring life with something productive and
positive.
ok ashley, it is time for you to get your butt back here in chicago so that we can party!
peace homies.
(still can't belive what happened to the pistons.....)
