a weed grows viral

Regard this as largely fatty, because I don't have many stats at hand, but

most interesting to note that Denver has over 300 "medical" marijuana dispensaries now, after the vox pops voted to let such businesses exist legaly. Even at first glance this number is impressive. Are there even 300 fast-food places in the city of Denver?

Regardless, this just states a fact: many, many people in this fair land smoke/eat cannabis. And many people are taking advantage of these "clinics" because the marijuana is controlled (somewhat) and legal. I assume that many people over college age would much rather get marijuana in a somewhat professional setting as opposed to a neighbor/dealer/friend. Youth don't care much about how they get their drugs, but working professionals shake their head at how cannabis is so taboo in this country. The laws are draconian: marijuana is still a Schedule 1 drug, meaning it has no medical value whatsoever. Alcohol, on the other hand, has no Controled Substanced scheduling.

For those who have experienced both of these substances, these simple facts seem most incongruous, to say least.

So therefore, cheers go up from the people who have fought long to in some way legalize the sale, posession, and use of marijuana.

But this is a curious time, and the mushroom-like growth of dispensaries will surely be curtailed, if not rolled back to some degree. Perhaps it will be a brief supression, as in this age of mental maladies the money that is being made off the sale of marijuana (America's biggest cash crop, to be sure) fills the coffers of small and big businessman alike- not to mention local governments.

Look the other way, perhaps, is the reasoning in this time. Unfortunately it's impossible to determine- but it would be interesting to examine- crimes commited by people under the influence of intoxicating drugs. My gut tells me far more crimes happen by people under the influence of alcohol or amphetamines or even pharmaceuticals rather than cannabis.

My experience with marijuana: I got sleepy, silly, non-offensive in a violent manner, and had a robust appetite (which for me is a blessing- I weigh as much as when I graduated high school.) Also, I know of no other balm that can even come close to quashing heartburn as cannabis.

I just wonder where this is going to go.. we're in a funky transition period between the dying of Aslinger's witch-hunt of marijuana and some kind of broader regulation.

Meanwhile, Denver is unabashedly smoking up.

Good/bad? Many have an opinion on this.
