MotoGP - Last Race of the Season

Oct 30, 2006 02:59

Wow. MotoGP. The last two races of the season have certainly matched F1's in unexpected drama and excitement :D.

In the second race before last in Portugal, Dani Pedrosa, my pick, accidentally took out his teammate Nicky Hayden (Pedrosa & Hayden are in the Repsol Honda team, which is like my Renault ;) ) and effectively allowed Valentino Rossi to knock him off top spot on the World Championship.

Boy that broke my heart and boy was Nicky PISSED OFF. It was kinda scary, actually.

I felt bad for Pedrosa because he didn't do it on purpose and he actually got out of it with a broken finger. But Nicky was incensed and talked about how Dani should make it up to him. Fair enough, but really, Nicky, you should 'do the Alonso' and not give up/despair, cause lookit what happened in this last race!

Valentino Rossi, the Doctor, the World Champion, or whatever else he's called, started from pole BUT FELL OFF HIS BIKE ON THE FOURTH LAP!

OMFG. Rossi. He fought back courageously, but it wasn't enough. Nicky finished third and clinched the title.

NICKY HAYDEN IS THE 2006 MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPION!!!

Woot! Hey, alexwhitman25, if you're looking for another motorsport to get into, perhaps you might like this one as well ;). There are A LOT of Americans and a lot of them are good, but no one more so than Hayden! Yup, the new world champion is American! *hums the Star Spangled Banner*

Nicky is from Kentucky (nicknamed "the Kentucky Kid"), has a thick southern accent, and is actually VERY GOOD LOOKING! Check it out:

That's from about an hour or two ago when he won the championship! Congratulations Nicky!

Anywhoo... I'm very happy for Nicky of course, but he is actually not my favorite rider. See, Nicky's like Fisichella for me. I like Repsol Honda (or Renault in Fisi's case) more than I like him. I actually like Pedrosa better, despite his shocking mistake last race ;), but hey, Pedrosa's not Alonso. He's still a rookie, so it's all very well that Nicky, the other Repsol rider, won it :D.

I'm also so happy that an Aussie, Troy Bayliss, won the race (Nicky finished third, Pedrosa fourth, Rossi :( a distant 13th). Well done Bayliss! I actually haven't heard of him because I think he was riding in place of someone else? All the more to him then :D. It was GOOD hearing the Aussie anthem on the podium :D. Haven't heard that before! I think I dislike Mark Webber enough to never really want to hear it on the F1 podium though...

Anyhow, while I'm at it, I'll show pics of Pedrosa and Rossi too :D.

That's Dani Pedrosa. He's gotten on the podium quite a few times and has even won at least one race on his first year on MotoGP. I've only started watching this year, but my dad said that even Rossi, in his first year, made more mistakes than Dani. Well, Dani made a colossal one last race, but hopefully he'll make it up with brilliant riding next year :D.

Valentino Rossi. He's kinda like Michael Schumacher, in that he's VERY GOOD at what he does and is basically the man to beat. But, unlike Schumacher, he's got a fun attitude, a great energy, and generally, an immense love for the sport. He was voted "Best Sportsman" at the Laureus World Sports award this year and, as chandrahasa has informed me, these guys KNOW sports. So, yes, even though I don't support Rossi, I don't hate his guts like I do Michael...

Okay, now thanks to daylight bloody saving, I've lost an hour of my life and it's now almost 4am. Time for bed for me.

Trace, since it's on at 6.30am, I'll 'TiVo' NASCAR and watch it tomorrow morning (afternoon?) when I get up. Hopefully, it doesn't run overtime since I might not catch the end of it otherwise (TiVoing baseball is such a bitch most of the times because they always run overtime -> Btw, CONGRATS TO THE ST LOUIS CARDINAL FOR WINNING THE WORLD SERIES).
