Is the government broken? Apparently a nationwide poll indicates that 86% of people think so.  Perhaps it's true.  There are 2 major political parties with different views, and they bring their ideas to the table when passing laws and budgets.  However, the current congress has so far been defined by inaction, and to a large extent it seems that various members are hell bent on forcing failure onto the American people.  Can't they realize that while something may not be optimal, doing something that has a chance of being useful and positive is better than doing nothing?  Just that fact that is good reason to ponder this very question makes me so angry.  Me and apparently 86% of other Americans out there.  Because what's a better indication that government isn't working than the fact that they get nothing effective done, that lobbyists have such immense power, and that people from the edges of Maine to southwest Arkensas feel betrayed by the people who are supposedly there to serve them.  Our politicians should remember that fundamentally they are public servants.
