Things Wot I Wrote

So I participated in a prompt-fic thingy, back in, like, November, and figured that I should probably at some point link/post these prompts I filled.
So I really like the H50 one and the HP is part of my personal Canon, but the Sherlock one didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. Oh well.

That Picture
H50 Danno-Grace
It's ridiculous, really, how much he loves that stupid picture.

It had been a horrible, no good, awful, welcome to suck fest 2009, I'm moving your princess halfway around the world and I don't care how much that sucks for you, terrible, very bad week.

He'd been in touch with his lawyer, who informed him that, "I'm sorry Danny, but legally she can move to Hawaii and take Gracie with her".

There had been something about how, since they had joint custody, that Danny could have her stay with him all summer long, but since Rachel had placement Gracie would be going to school in Hawaii.

They'd been divorced for almost a year at that point, and were still so very very angry at each other.

It had been his weekend with Gracie and he had impulsively pretty much emptied his savings account and had taken her to Disney World. In Florida. Without so much as letting Rachel know until after they were checked into the Hotel.

She hadn't been pleased at all, and there might have been some things said on his side on how 'however this had made Rachel feel it was going to be 100 times worse when she was half way around the globe with their daughter'.

Whatever the circumstances around the weekend, those 2 days themselves were absolutely magical.

There was something about just getting out of New Jersey, of being somewhere where there were no memories of Rachel, be they good or bad; not having to worry about being called in to work. Nothing to focus on but Gracie and her having a good time.

They had laughed and took pictures and he had spent a completely ludicrous amount of money on her and even now, having to live in a tiny rundown apartment because he spent most of his savings on a 2 day getaway with his daughter, it was so worth it.

His favorite picture, the first one Steve found, is of the two of them posing like Charlie's Angels in front of Cinderella's Castle.

Gracie had made him buy her a pink Ballerina Tutu skirt, which she had insisted in putting on over her shorts, red "Jessie" boots, elbow length white opera gloves, and a green cowboy hat.

For him she had picked out, and then made him wear, a t-shirt that had Iron Man on it and a pirate Mickey Mouse Ear hat.

Not something he necessarily wanted or needed his new boss to see, but it was Gracie, in all of her 'I wanna be a princess and a rockstar and a ballerina, and a cowgirl and kick butt while doing it' glory.

Plus, might as well let Steve know what he was in for; a man willing to do anything for his little girl, including allowing a picture like that to be taken and proudly displayed.

Danno loved his girl.

House Potter
HP Hermione/Ron-Harry

It's not that she doesn't like Molly. Because she does. For the most part.

Hermione is used to having her own way. Harry doesn't always do what she tells him to, not anymore anyway, but Ron generally does. No one really tells her what to do anymore.

Her parents haven't really parented her since she was 12 and came back from her first year at Hogwarts and didn't tell them she'd almost been killed twice. They hadn't seemed all that interested anyway, she tells herself, and in any case even as a minor she had more rights in the Wizarding World than they did as muggles. She was just protecting them.

She obeys rules because someone somewhere obviously didn't and came to a gruesome end and then the rule was made. Rules keep us safe. (Or at lease she did until she met Harry).

Most rules are obeyed because of direct consequences. She's aware of that.

But in reality, she's 18 years old. She's a witch. She and two other people just defeated Voldemort. Really, no one tells her what to do. They may make suggestions, or point out how things are generally done, but Harry Potter is currently the best thing since Merlin, and she's his right hand.

The unmitigated gall of Molly to tell her she can't have her wedding in a muggle church just pisses her right off. She's Hermione Jane Granger and she'll have her wedding anywhere she damn well pleases and it will damn well please her not to have it at the Burrow.

She's read up on this. Obviously Fleur hadn't. The fact that the Burrow has been owned by Weasleys for something like 14 generations makes it very potent magically when doing a ritual, like marriage, on the land.

Hermione loves the Weasleys, after all she's marrying one of them; but she'll not make herself a vassal of the Weasley House. Not now, not ever. She's already a vassal of the Potter House and she's not changing allegiances.

House Weasley is full. House Potter consists of her and Harry. She trusts Harry, the head of her house, far more than she trusts Arthur, or to be more specific, Molly.

She's going to have a life beyond home-making if she feels like it. She's going to induct Ron into the House of Potter, magically. Her children will be Potters, magically.

She'd get married at one of the Potter properties if she could, but Harry needs to do so first, which he's aware of, and he's not been too worried about getting married, much to Ginny's rather open displeasure, so that leaves a church.

She'll muggle it up and use that for an excuse. Hermione's getting married in a church.

Milan
bbcSherlock Sherlock/John PreSlash

John would never come right out and ask him, Sherlock knows, most likely because John would think that either Sherlock would mock him or think less of him because where one gets ones clothing from is not important.

Of course it is important, but John, for all his interesting qualities, has yet to learn how to think like Sherlock thinks, which is a good thing, reflects Sherlock, as he already knows how he thinks and then he might get bored with John, which would be awful.

Sherlock is wavering on boredom even now. Which is not good. Perhaps...

"Cordings, Hugo Boss, and Browns."

"Hmm? What?"

"Oh and one year there was a case during Milan Fashion Week. It was quite easy and I got to keep the clothing."

"What?" John was now looking quite dumbfounded. As if Sherlock couldn't tell that he had wanted to know.

"Do try to keep up. You were wondering where I got my clothing and for some, probably boring, reason weren't going to ask. It was bothering me so I told you."

"You were a model? During Milan's Fashion week?"

Sherlock just looked at him.

"How does that even happen in real life? Seriously?"

Sherlock sighed. Maybe he should have just kept his mouth shut about that part. Oh well.

"Mummy's Stylist was having problems, sabotage and the like. It was 'suggested' by Mummy that I help out. I'm fairly sure Mycroft was actually behind her suggestion but I could never prove it. Geoff insisted I had to be undercover. He was very dramatic about the whole thing. He was being blackmailed."

"Did you actually walk the catwalk?" John is amused by this. Odd.

"Yes."

He hasn't said anything funny. He doesn't understand why John is quietly laughing.

He asks a question of his own. "Why d'you want to know?"

John stops laughing and demurs.

Sherlock raises an eyebrow.

"Well, sometimes we go through clothes quite a bit. Christmas is coming, so I was just wondering." John turns a bit pink as he admits this.

Something that might be happiness unclenches in his stomach and travels up, all the way through him.

Sherlock smiles.
