Help three Dutch Industrial Design students!
Dear (industrial) designers, artists, engineers and others interested in shape,
We are three Industrial Design students at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. We are currently busy researching the following issue:
Does the expression of shape vary in different languages?
Expressing terms of shape happens mostly instinctual, this is why certain applications aimed at designers and other people who work with shapes are not equally understandable for everyone; let alone what happens when shape terms are translated into other languages!
For this reason we are trying to reach international native speakers of English, Dutch, Russian, Surinamese, Tagalog (Filipino) and Bahasa Indonesia. (But other languages are welcome too).

In the end we hope to have collected enough answers to compose “ideal” lists of shape terms that are adjusted to the user’s way of thinking, instead of the other way round. We expect this to result in an overall better understanding in for example, CAD-programs all over the world.
