Yay, a James-takes-Robbie-to-the-dentist fic! That episode was crying out for a day-after sequel, and this is perfect. So very much in character, and I love Robbie's musings on his sergeant's audacity:

This was how the house-training of a sergeant came undone. Give him an inch, and he'd take a bleeding mile.

Oh, yeah. And, no, of course Robbie would never have dared do anything similar with Morse *g*

And I love that he found the alcohol! (BTW, we wouldn't say 'hard alcohol'; we'd say spirits, which is a general term encompassing pretty much anything with a high volume of alcohol that's not beer or wine: brandy, whisky, rum, vodka and so on). I think perhaps this needs a sequel to show their friendship deepening and Robbie realising that he's also a one-man man :)

(There may just be a few too many 'sirs' in here for an S6 fic - James at this point is hardly ever calling Lewis 'sir' - but that's about all that struck me. This is an excellent first fic and I'm looking forward to more from you).

Thanks so much for your comment and the feedback! I've changed "hard alcohol" to "spirits" and will attempt to cut down on the "sirs". I'm just too fond of James being deferential to Robbie.

I was originally heading towards an ending where Robbie would actually figure out James' and Laura's hints, but I ran out of time. We'll see about a sequel :-)

Thanks again for the advice and encouragement!

Heh, thank you, I'll do my best to oblige! They are the epitome of tenderness, only they do their best to hide it!

Just came back to read for a second time - this is so lovely that I couldn't resist - and I now have a huge smile on my face at the thought of a sequel. Yes, please!

Ooh, I wish I'd gotten to the extra "sirs" before you reread...but I'm so glad it stands up to a re-read! I'll try my best!
