You know I know absolutely nothing about Star Trek, so this is a serious
question, but did they ever do any scenes in the restroom on the ship? and if so, what was it like? did they ever have to release their waste into space? actually i suppose they could just beam it to some planet they didn't like. I'm just curious about the restrooms mostly.

well, they've made mention....for instance in this episode tonight riker pointed to the bathroom in his quarters..(told her she could wash her feet in there)...

and in a 7th season episode when troi is de-evolved into her amphibius genetic heritage, they find her lounging in her bathtub....

other than that, i don't believe i've heard anything about actual pooping or anytihng.
i'm assuming they either vaporize the shit ie "waste", or they drop it off every so often when visiting a starbase. of course i have no idea what a starbase would do with it.

i wanna say i've seen a bathroom in DS9 before, but i could be thinking of something else.
however, that was a Cardacean arrangment, so would bear no resemblance to Federation designs.

Heh. According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, the human waste is broken down somehow and then via recycled the replicator system. I don't have the book with me, so I can't give many details
